As Salaamu Alaikum,

First, I want to say how amazing it is to witness the outpouring of love, concern, dua and offers of help we are receiving. May Allah reward all of you for your efforts, ameen! Hundreds of friends, family and perfect strangers from all over are reaching out to us with words of comfort and encouragement for Jamal and his family. They are using their resources, large contact lists and social networks to spread the word. WE ARE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL.

Second, to those of you who have donated…saying thank you doesn’t seem adequate to express how much your help is appreciated. Jazakallahu Khair! As of Wednesday, June 9 we have had 28 people donate $980.00 Alhumdulillah!

“Your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward. So Fear Allah as mush as you are able and listen, and obey and spend (in the way of Allah); is is better for yourselves. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul – it is those who will be the successful. If you loan Allah a goodly loan, He will multiply it for you and forgive you. And Allah is Most Appreciative and Forbearing. Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.”

Quran, Surah Al-Taghabun (Chapter of Mutual Loss and Gain) verses 15-18

Currently, we are trying to work with some of the local masaajid to see if they can accept donations on behalf of Jamal for those of you who have asked to donate in person. We have calls placed at PGMA in Lanham, MD, Dar-us-Salaam in College Park, MD, Masjid Muhammad in DC, Laurel Masjid in Laurel, MD and Dar Al-Hijrah in Falls Church, VA. When we receive confirmation that they will accept donations, we will let you know.

We have committed to raising $15,000 for Jamal’s family and with Allah’s help first and you, we are confident we will get there.

ATTENTION SISTERS:

As you can imagine, this has been a very stressful time for Safiyah, Jamal’s wife. Our husbands are our leaders, our strength and our encouragement and when we see them go through something that tests their strength, we are sometimes left unsure of how to handle that. We are more emotional by nature and seeing our husbands go through difficulty can make us weak. Safiyah is especially affected as she is pregnant. Let’s rally around our sister and send her words of encouragement, reminders to be strong and make dua for her. Send stories of the mothers of the believers (may Allah be pleased with them) and of their strength through trials and tests.

We will continue to post updates as we receive them.

Barakallahu Fik

38 people have donated $1,550.00 so far, MAY ALLAH REWARD YOU IMMENSELY, AMEEN!

Unfortunately, we have not been able to make arrangements with any of the local masaajid to have them accept donations on Jamal’s behalf. We continue to reach out and will let you know when a masjid has agreed to assist us in our efforts.

The Islamic Research & Humanitarian Services Center of America INC (IRHSCA) has agreed to take donations on behalf of Jamal. For those of you who have asked for an address to mail donations to or a Masjid to drop donations off, you can do so at:

As Salaamu Alaikum,

We want to thank all of you who have used their contact lists, influence at their masjids, websites, blogs and social networks to spread the word about what we are trying to accomplish. May Allah reward you for your efforts, ameen!

As of today, 60 people have donated $2262.70 via paypal. We have also collected about $600.00 through individuals who donated directly to IRHSCA or family members, making a total of approximately $2900.00. Jazakumallahu Khairan.

We have a challenge on the table for whoever wants to take it!

“May Allah forgive us and rectify our affairs. Jamal and Safiyah, I have donated $200 to your fund. I mention this only as a challenge to others. If one other brother will match my donation, I will send another $200. Please notify me when you can confirm the receipt from whomever matches me and I will send it through my PayPal account immediately, insha Allah. You and your family are in our du’as. May Allah make this trial easy on you and your family.”

May Allah reward this brother for his encouragement to do good, Ameen!

The website has had 2,807 views and that number grows every hour thanks to you spreading the word. We ask you to continue to make dua for Jamal and his family and spread the word to whoever will listen.

We would also like to send a special thank you to people at The Islamic Research & Humanitarian Services Center of America INC for cutting through the “red tape” and agreeing to take donations on Jamal’s behalf. May Allah reward you all, ameen!

As Salaamu Alaikum

There are some who doubt the authenticity of this sadaqa request. If you come across someone who does, you can direct them to one of the masjids who have agreed to take donations on Jamal’s behalf. They can vouch for our family and the validity of this situation. We understand how one can be wary of online solicitations but we are asking you to have husnul thun and trust that if what you do is for Allah alone, you will have no worries.

Alhumdulillah, another masjid has come forward and agreed to assist with collecting donations for Jamal, may Allah reward their efforts, ameen! Their information is as follows:

Masjidul Ghurbaa
8220 Washington St S
Laurel, MD 20724
http://mgmd.org

Masha Allah tabarakallah, Bro Umar’s $200 challenge was met and he followed through on his end. May Allah reward you Bro. Umar, ameen! As of today 78 people have donated a total of $3067.00 via paypal, Alhumdulillah! We have also collected about $600 from people who donated directly to the family and Masjid Ghurbaa and IRHSCA has informed us that there are donations waiting to be collected from them of an unknown amount. Subhanallah walhumdulillah! We are extremely grateful to Allah and to you for your generosity.

Jamal still has not received word from the hospital on whether he will be accepted for treatment or not. However, he has been connected to a couple of influential people who have taken to advocating on his behalf, alhumdulillah. Insha Allah, we will receive word by the end of the week on their progress.

Continue to make dua for Jamal and his family and sisters, continue to reach out with words of encouragement, they are definitely appreciated.

Jazakumallahu Khairan

As Salaamu Alaikum

Jamal has started chronicling his journey towards healing insha Allah. You can read about this ordeal in his words on the new tab titled “From Jamal”.

To date, Jamal has received word from 2 different specialty centers that he can’t receive treatment unless authorized by the Prince. The reason for this is that a recent royal decree was issued to the specialty hospitals forbidding the acceptance of non-Saudi citizens because of the high demand. He has since sent a telegram to the Prince requesting his approval and we still await word as to the final decision. Please, make dua that we receive a favorable outcome.

Alhumdulillah, we are up to $6811.00! With only $8189 left to raise, I am confident we will reach our goal. MAY ALLAH REWARD ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE DONATED, PASSED THE WORD, EMAILED, BLOGGED, COLLECTED MONEY…MAY ALLAH REWARD YOU WITH THE BEST IN THIS LIFE AND IN THE AKHIRA, AMEEN!! Our family can’t thank you enough for all you have done and continue to do on Jamal’s behalf. We are humbled, comforted and encouraged by the response.

A special thank you to Umm Abdul-Latif in the UK for using her resources to spread the word there. We received many donations and messages of encouragement and help from the Muslim community in the UK and Canada because of her commitment to help us in this endeavor.

The Muhammad family, along with IRHSCA (The Islamic Research and Humanitarian Services Center of America aka “The Center”) will be hosting a fund raising dinner at the Center on behalf of Jamal on Saturday, July 24, 2010 @ 5:00 PM Insha Allah. Look for an Evite forthcoming.

We know that life moves on for many and Jamal’s situation may not hit close to home, but it stays at the forefront for Jamal and Safiya. Please continue to keep them in your dua and spread the word. Give sadaqa fisibilillah, for Allah will reward you in return.

Jazakumallahu Khairan

  1. To my sister in law, Safiyah,

You are in my thoughts and dua constantly throughout the day. I know this is a trying time but keep your head up and be strong! Have faith that Allah will rectify your affairs and hold on to that and BELIEVE it. Remember what I told you over the phone. We are all here for you whenever you need us. I love fisibilillah.

  2. As Salaamu alaykum warahmatulaahi wabarakaatu. Safiyah i want you to know that truly you and your husband are in my dua’s. When one of our ummah are hurting we are all hurting and i want you to know that your pain is also my pain right now. Believe me ukhti, its my intention beithnillaah to get up for Tahajjud for your situation and to remember your husband in all the times when dua is accepted. Sis, i will not forget you all in my dua’s as long as Allaah gives me breath and your husband has this situation. Remember that nothing can change the Qadr of Allaah except dua, and i’m a strong believer in it. Remember Allaah’s attributes and call upon Him by the names that are appropriate for your situation. I also will do what i can on my end in any way that i can to spread the word and to assist you all in getting this money. My heart won’t feel content until you all are on your way back beithnilaah. My husband works for the airlines, and has said whatever assistance he can offer your family with getting back here, he will. I spoke with Naim ( Abu Muadh) last night and he has also announced it at Masjid Ghurabah. Please remember that Allaah Azza wajal has said that as long as we keep our duty to Him, he will make a way out of every difficulty and from ways which we can not imagine. Call upon Him by this Safiyah, He is the One Who decrees, gives life, and takes life. It’s in His hands and He is Al-Mujeeb ( The One Who responds to dua). I love you ukhti fisabililaah, and your family because we are all one body. I will keep in touch insha Allaah.

My own words would not compare. We love you and your family Safiyah. We are here for you all in every way possible. You are in our thoughts and du’aa!

    • Masha Allah tabarakallah, Br. Umar your challenge has been met. We’ve just received a matching donation of $200! However it wasn’t from a brother, Masha Allah. May Allah reward you immensely for encouraging this! Ameen

      • Al hamdulillah, I am pleased to hear that the challenge was met so swiftly. Here’s hoping that some brothers will feel obligated to match the generosity of the sister, so as not to be out done. I am processing the additional $200 as promised now. You should have the payment shortly, insha Allah. May Allah increase you all in this effort. Jamal and his family are in our prayers.

Good to know your target. Is the brother still in Saudi, if so I can transfer to his account from here, otherwise, I will send a check to the States. It will take about 10-14 days. I can’t use the paypal from Saudi, locks it up thinking its a potential fraud from outside the country.

May Allah open the way to surpass your goal and provide all your needs.
